I am the person I am today because of coaching and teaching swim classes at the AJCC! Thirteen years ago, I was fortunate to have become an employee at the ‘J’ , but my proudest moment was becoming the Center’s ARROWS Swim Coach. I’m proud to serve as an advocate for the importance of learning to swim and water safety; not just here, but throughout my travels. As a swimming coach, it’s my job to take action. When we teach a child to swim, we are saving lives! This summer, between Memorial Day and Labor Day 308 children under the age of 12 drowned in a swimming pool or spa in the U.S. Of that number, 184 victims were under the age of six. The time is now to help teach a child to swim, and to save a life. At the J we offer scholarships for families who may need assistance; and for as little at $75, a child can be taught to swim. As you consider your holiday giving this year, I hope you will support my goal of raising $500 in support of the JCC’s annual appeal. No gift is too small to help save a life. On behalf of the children and families at the AJCC who need us most, thank you for your support!
